  5. longtime proponent of voluntary euthanasia; for building a
  6. "suicide machine" and connecting it to a Portland, Ore., woman
  7. suffering from Alzheimer's disease; in Clarkston, Mich.
  8. Kevorkian, dubbed "Dr. Death," is charged with first-degree
  9. murder. He had admitted to facilitating the suicide of Janet
  10. Adkins last June, although she alone pressed the button that
  11. released a fatal dose of potassium chloride into her bloodstream.
  12. If convicted, he faces mandatory life imprisonment with no
  13. possibility of parole.
